LING LING
Ling Ling was in her new forever home for a few months, before they discovered she had cancer. She was very happy, even towards the end.

JEFFREY
This little guy was in such bad shape when we got him. He had obviously suffered. He was an older guy and his heart just gave out. I'll always remember how happy he was for the short time we had him.

DUNCAN
On March 2nd we lost our precious Duncan. He went so fast that the Dr's at UC Davis said he was only in pain for a few seconds. He spiked a fever on Sunday and we bathed him and then took the fever done farther with an alcohol rub. We took him to UC Davis emergency that night and they treated him with some antibiotics and said to take him to our regular Vet in the morning. He had a seizure early Monday morning and we took him to the Vet first thing. When we got there the receptionist said she was running late that morning and Duncan needed immediate attention, so we headed back to UC Davis. He was very weak and just lay in my arms on the way, then he cried out four times, then rested again. The Vets said that his brain had swelled and when he cried out was when his brain ruptured. They said it was probably a long time coming from a blow to the head or something. We told them about the blindness in his eye and they said that is probably when it happened. He had a bladder infection earlier and was treated for that, but maybe that is what prompted the brain swelling. Anyway, they were so kind to us and Duncan there, he went into a coma while we were there and I held him in my arms when they gave him the shot to stop his little heart. We took him home and buried him under his favorite spot under my camellia bush. I can't tell you how deeply sad I have been. I am crying now again as I type this note to you. But I have to remember the joy he brought to me while I had him. I taught him to return my love and he even allowed me to hug and cuddle with him, he learned to play and I also got him out of his food aggression issues. I could lay my face right next to his food bowl and put my hand in the bowl too..... We received many sympathy cards and even one from the UC Davis Dr. that cared for him... Maybe one of these days I will adopt again, but for now I need to let my heart heal... I gave him one year of love and care, and he died a happy puppy. Martha Gustavson

JERRY GARCIA
I regret to inform you that little Jerry Garcia that I rescued had a seizure and passed away on Sunday morning. He got really excited to greet someone as they entered the house and after a quick pet hello to him, he fell over and postured for a minute and died. He was rushed to the Animal Emergency where he was pronounced and he is scheduled for cremation. I will miss him greatly. For such a short period of time, he left lasting memories.
